summer heat, boy and girl meet inside the cabin was quiet, due to the fact that every other girl that cindy shared it with had gone out. this made her slightly sad, as cindy liked company. mainly because people around her tended to provide her with attention. as soon as there was no one around, cindy was without people to dote on her. yes, she was a little bit of an attention seeker, but perhaps it was part of her nature as a shifter. as part of the cat family [ shifting into a white tiger ] maybe she naturally found comfort in attention. after all, there are few cats who don't enjoy someone petting them behind the ears. that was a current problem for cindy. her ears wouldn't go away. not in the literal sense but in a shifter sense. instead of having two little round ears on the side of her head, cindy had two ears on top of her head, white and fluffy ones to be exact. they would not go away.
that was one problem cindy had. she wasn't a very good shifter. she tended to get stuck half way between person and tiger. today, she only had ears but it wasn't uncommon for her to be walking around with furry hands or a tail. she'd never managed to get proper control of her ability, which, outside of the camp, had been a terrible inconvenience.
shutting down her laptop, cindy put it under her bed and looked around the cabin. she'd been talking to someone online who said they would come and see her, but whether they would she wasn't sure. so, in the meantime she focused her mind briefly and felt her tail grow. after this cindy took her small comb from the side of her bed and started combing out the fur. her shifting form grew as her body did, and as her body wasn't fully grown yet neither was her tiger form. this meant that her fur was half fluffy and half sleek and smooth, so bits of it were always getting tangled. while she was alone, though still listening out keenly for the approach of anyone, cindy started combing out small tangles in her fur.
with her keen hearing, she could listen out for people approaching. of course, some species around here were even quieter than she was, meaning that she couldn't always be sure when someone was coming, but most of the time her senses didn't fail her. that was one of the traits she inheritted from her shifter form, keen senses, along with flexibility, climbing skills and speed. cindy played some soft music from her phone to occupy her hyperactive senses while she was alone. as nice as it was for there not to be lots of noise hurting her ears, the silence also reminded her that she was alone, which was even worse.
no idea on words, can't be bothered to count. gifs are amusing. anyone can take this, roo or otherwise. i'm bored and it sucks a bit. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

she's buildin' you up just to break you down
hello fascination The first thing Delaney did when she got into cabin number one was rush to the bathroom. It had suddenly started raining rather heavily, with zero notice. Dell had been doing her usual thing (trapaizing along the ouskirts of the forest) and had, consecuently, gotten stuck in it. Ew. I mean, she loved rain, but being stuck in it was a completely different story. She was soaked through the skin, she swore there was raining filling up in her gut. And her clothes were a lost cause. She she rushed through the spacious cabin, stopping only ever so slightly to grab a pile of clothes off her bed. Inside the bathroom, she stripped off the stickly wet clothes that clung to her body like they wouldn't let go. Pulled on a nice polo shirt and some denim shorts. Much better. She wrung her hair out momentarily before grabbing a towel and wrapping it up in a turban sort of thing. She looked pretty funny.
It was once she got out (still muttering and brooding over getting caught in the downpour) that she saw Cindy. Funny, they had talked online a week or two ago, but Dell had never realized she was in her cabin, until, well, she opened her eyes. She had never been really aware of people, just animals and trees. It was a weird thing. But, yeah, you get used to it. Cinderella looked distraught. Dell let a soft little giggle slip out of her before walking over to the other girl, planting a gentle kiss between her fuzzy ears. It was too easy to mother her, she was adorable. She sat down next to the lighter blond, leaning over her knees again and wringing her hair out one last time. Dell let out an exhasperated sigh, and looked back at Cindy, smiling wryly, 'cause she looked surprised. ' What, expecting somebody else? ' she joked, not expecting that this was indeed the case. She ruffled her hair again, like a peacock ruffling feathers, and then pulled it into a haphazard bun with the snap of a hairtie. She threw the towel across the room. She would get it later... maybe.
She looked back at Cindy, and wrapped her arms around her, cuddling. Dell had never really been one for human contact, but she loved contact all the same. Two things about Cindy may have made Dell much more comfortable; her general adorableness and the fact that she was half animal, which put Delaney at ease almost instantly. She'd always been better with critters than people. And she knew that with the cuddling, it was reciprocal. ' So what's up, Cindy-lou? '
i kind of just jumped to them being besties. because i hate awkward posts where you have to write that stuff out. x3

summer heat, boy and girl meet Cindy sat, tugging at the tangles in her ears, when Dell (Walrus) ran into the room. It made her jump a little, to say the least, as one of her best friends ran through the cabin soaking wet and grabbing clothes as she went. Immediately understanding bloomed in Cindy’s mind. It was raining and Walrus was stuck in the rain and that wouldn’t be nice... Cindy only liked water when it was a bath or a shower. Otherwise she didn’t like it too much. Rain didn’t really suit her – she was more of a sun or a snow person. The wet was only fun when there was warm afterwards. It was a truth universally acknowledged (well, in Cindy’s universe anyway) that she couldn’t swim at all. So when Ash had said about his love for water Cindy had shied away a little. Still, he’d said he would teach her to swim, so maybe things would get better.
Walrus returned from the bathroom wearing nice dry clothes and Cindy purred. Half of the time she didn’t even notice the sound, it was an instinctive reaction to anything she liked and she liked Dell a lot. She gave Cindy lots of attention. As with cats in general, Cindy loved attention from people. She’d also grown up in an environment in which she’d received a lot of attention from her grandmother, so when didn’t have anyone around to dote on her, it wasn’t unusual for Cindy to go and find someone to pay her attention. Cindy giggled as Dell kissed her head and purred a little. `Hello walrus’
she said happily, shuffling around a little so that Dell could sit with her. Cindy likes Dell, she had a nice face and she liked animals and people. Seeing as Cindy was both, this suited her perfectly. Cindy’s eyes widened at Dell’s question. `No, no!’ She said quickly, not wanting to upset Dell or anything. `I wasn’t expecting anyone to come and see me, that’s all. I am very glad walrus came to see me.’ she said with a big smile. Cindy scrunched her nose up as water flicked everywhere and rubbed the wet off of her face. `How is walrus? You got caught in the horrible rain.’ she said, pulling a big thick blanket out from under the bed to wrap her hands up in. Just like a cat, Cindy was forever treading her hands/paws in fabric. She found it comforting. `Is anyone else coming back? It’s been lonely in here.’ She said, her eyes so wide and innocent she seemed much younger than her seventeen years. short and poo, but here's a reply : D [/blockquote][/blockquote]

hello fascination Delaney really didn't have that many friends. She didn't let too many people in. Delaney wasn't very fond of people or things she didn't know so well. It was trust issues, but it wasn't like she'd had some life-altering thing to damage her trust. Maybe it was just a pathological fear. The other night (when she couldn't sleep, of course) she pulled out a pocket-sized dictionary her dad has sent her (because, being a writer, he thought that was more important than sending his daughter, ya'know, an actual letter), and went through all the words that started with "x"'s and "z"'s. Because... it was entertaining? Well, it helped her get to sleep, but not before she found the word xenophobia; an unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of that which is foreign or strange. And she guessed that's what she had, an unreasonable fear of strange things and people. Places didn't bother her so much, because there was always something familiar about the feel of a place, the nature and energy that she could feel pulsing in it that quieted her mind. But people were a different story.
Dell smiled at Cindy's nickname for her, and shifted around, sitting next to the shifter. She inwardly giggled a bit at her purring; that was one reason was Cindy was here, she guessed. The lighter blond probably wouldn't be able to live in the real world without accidentally part-way shifting, or pulling her tiger qualities too far into her human behavior.
ahh, i have to finish later. i just have no muse for this thread. *sadface*
