HERE THE SEASONS DON'T EXIST A SUMMER HELD IN HAND. REST WHILE LOCKS MELT FROM OUR DOORS Evan was so fucking excited. There was no other way to say what she was feeling because honestly, that was it. For once this week, she’d be doing something that wouldn’t remind her that she’d spilled quite possibly her biggest secret ever, and she was doing something that wouldn’t involve being around Grayson and possibly spilling that secret to him. It was about him, after all. The big secret was that Evan was falling hard for her best friend, as cliché as that sounded, and the reason it was a secret was because Evan wasn’t the type of girl that fell for anyone. She had flings, bed buddies, flirting buddies, and make out buddies, but never ever thought of seriously being with any of them for an elongated period of time. But that all changed now that she was falling quite hard for Grayson, which was just the reason she was glad she’d made plans with someone that wasn’t Grayson for the day. Evan was happy to be getting out into the sun and go on an adventure, even if she’d end up worrying about her cat all the while. It’d be worth getting away from her mindless drama that was all up in her head for a day, even if it wouldn’t last forever.
She put in the lunch she’d asked Sean about the night before with a small smile on her face. Sean was one of her best friends (but around here, who the fuck wasn’t?), and quite honestly adorable. Evan loved the kid (but once again around here, who the fuck didn’t she?), making this trip more fun than it would have been with someone she hadn’t really met all that much. She was going out on an adventure with someone she honestly liked being around and the cat Ash had gotten her from God only knows where. After placing the salad for Sean in her little basket kind of thing (cheesy for a day out, yes, but it was all Evan could find to keep lunches in), she placed Oddball Twix’s cat food in and kissed the top of her cat’s head. She looked so pretty in the new collar Evan had tied the night before with some string she found lying around the cabin while she’d been watching her movie. Somehow, all of her roommates had left the cabin all at once, which was really only astonishing because it had looked like it was gong to rain the night before, but Evan hadn’t complained. At least she’d had time to plan for the day ahead and enjoy some history lessons via Bill & Ted.
Looking around, Evan smiled when she realized she was ready. And just in good time; she had five minutes to get to the lake by foot with the basket and her cat in her arms before 10:30 would roll around, and she kind of hoped Sean was already waiting for her. But wasn’t it the guy’s job to be fashionably late? Well, it wasn’t like this was a date or anything; she was just going out to have some fun with one of her guy friends. And that was enough to please Miss Torres for the day. So she picked up the basket in one hand, Oddball Twix in another, and moved to exit her cabin. Before leaving though, she took one last look behind her to make sure she had everything and when she was sure she did, she walked right out of the cabin. She could have flown to the lake, but she would have wasted the clothing she was wearing, and she was carrying a live animal. Her claws as a vulture would have punctured and pushed all the way though Oddball’s skin and fur, and the last thing Evan ever wanted to do was hurt her cat (or any animal for that matter). So she was walking, which wasn’t really the biggest deal.
With almost no effort, Evan found the lake. Crystal Lake wasn’t exactly hidden, but it was far enough from the camp that on any given night, there would be three or four skinny dippers. Evan wasn’t really one for getting naked in public, but rather just flirting and all of that jazz. To Evan, a bikini was enough, which was just what she was wearing under her shirt, shorts, and flip flops. Good thing too, because the lake looked warm and promising, or maybe cold and the day was warm enough to enjoy the cold water. Either way, Evan put down her basket and Oddball Twix before sitting down next to her cat. She smiled and looked up at the sky, enjoying the little birds that would flit between trees every now and then. She sat silently, waiting for Sean to show up without looking for her phone or a watch for the time, mostly because she’d left both her phone and her watch (which was technically a part of her phone) back in the cabin. Today was going to be carefree, with the exception of Oddball Twix’s going ons, and so far everything was perfect. All that needed to happen now was for Sean to show up.

He didn’t look so great the major bed head. He found a bush and tried to tame his main. Clothes wise he was only wearing boxers. He threw on whatever looked clean from his pile in the corner. He was going to be working on that mess tonight. It was growing and slowing creeping into others space. He normally wasn’t a messy person but he just never felt like clean or putting things away like he should have been doing. He thought about doing last night but was talking to Evan and that was much more interesting. He hadn’t really slept a lot last night, so waking up was a bit of a challenge this morning... but he managed. He was stumbling around for a while making sure he had everything. He also wanted to make sure he didn’t look like he just rolled out of bed, even though he just did. He didn’t even bother eating; besides Evan was supposed to be bringing a lunch of some sort so he could wait for that. He wasn’t hungry enough to eat right now anyways. He was still waking up when he went outside but the fresh air felt so nice around him. He sucked in a huge breath and that woke him up a little bit more. He vaguely knew where the lake was so it took him a little longer than expected to find it. But when he did it was a breath taking view.
Sean, saw Evan almost immediately. She looked so pretty sitting there with oddball twix. He liked having her as a friend here. She was so sweet and fun to talk to. Sean had been so excited for today. He was done thinking about whatever was going on back at home. He was moving on. Making new friends and meeting new people. He walked up to Evan sunbathing in the sunlight. He didn’t realize it but this was the first time in a while that he didn’t want to smoke. He normally did when he was excited or stressed out. But this time he didn’t. He felt so relaxed around older girl. So rarely did that even happen. “Hey Evan!” Sean said kind of loudly. He was trying to sneak up on her and scare her. Not to be mean but just to see the funny look on her face. He let out a little giggle and sat down next to her. He was growing hungrier as he felt more awake. The grass felt nice between his fingers and the breeze felt nice in his hair. The sun was hot but not to the point where it was killing things. Sean loved being outside so much. At first he had missed the Florida sun but this was much better. Not so hot that you get a heat stroke from walking outside but not cold either. Sean went in to the picnic basket to retrieve his salad that Evan promised to make for him. he picked it form some time before getting a fork and really eating for the first time this morning.

HERE THE SEASONS DON'T EXIST A SUMMER HELD IN HAND. REST WHILE LOCKS MELT FROM OUR DOORS Evan had gotten to humming a song softly (Teenagers by Hayley Williams to be exact) by the time she saw something move around her. It was one of those things where you saw through the corner of your vision but you were focused on other things, and still the thing moving snapped you out of that focus. Only with Evan, it didn’t do much to sway her focus. She kept looking up at the sky, watching the birds and the sun and the clouds move around her, almost feeling that strange urge to get up and shift right there with no purpose. She wanted to fly, to be free of these unnecessary weights called legs and have wings in the place of her arms. It didn’t matter what anyone else thought of vultures to Evan; she loved them and she loved being one of them. She loved flying, so much more than walking or running. She kind of wanted to stand up, drop her clothing so they wouldn’t tear, and shift into her vulture form thingy, but the fact that Oddball was with her, and the fact that she was waiting for Sean kept her grounded (literally). Flying could wait; it was a part of Evan that would never go away.
She took a breath in, ignoring the movement that seemed to be getting closer to her and closed her eyes. She could picture herself flying, and with the mental image in her mind, Evan could feel the wind cooling her face as she pushed against it, or even sometimes she would glide through it if she was flying in the direction the wind was moving. She could hear the wind move past her ears; could smell the ‘colors’ of the wind (which was essentially funny because Evan was part Native American on her father’s side). A smile crept across her face at the thought, and she almost got up and shifted right there, but she heard a voice. It startled her, but as soon as she registered who it was in her mind the smile on her face came back threefold. She felt Oddball jump a bit at the intruder, but Evan put her hand on the cat’s head and began petting her to calm her down before turning to look at Sean. Finally, he was here, after countless minutes of Evan waiting alone. Of course, she would never know how many minutes due to the lack of clock, but the fact that he was finally here just lifted all of that worry away. Now the fun for the day could begin.
“Sean!” Evan then pretty much jumped and attacked Sean in a hug, like she did with most of her other friends. It was odd, because back in New York she’d never really had the opportunity to do that. All of her ‘girl friends’ were stuck up and selfish, completely against any type of PDA. All of the guys she hanged around with back home where the type she jumped on for piggy back rides, but they never really openly accepted hugs like this from Evan. For the most part, they liked to be boys and not include her in on a lot of the things they did just because she was a girl. But not the kids here; not Sean. Sean and Evan got along so well that Evan could attack him like this and he’d probably just chuckle and hug her right back. That was why Evan would never leave Camp Brook unless her friends did; she would never ever find another group of friends like this. She would never find another set of friends that let her attack them like this. The thought made Evan smile again because that single thought made her realize she did have the best friends ever, no matter what anyone else said about it.
Oddball nudged Evan in the back of her shin and Evan sat up straight to pick the cat up and pull her to her own chest. “You remember Oddball Twix Torres, right?” It was a rhetorical question; they’d only been talking about Evan’s cat the night before. Of course Sean remembered her cat. Besides the fact mentioned before, there weren’t many people that knew Evan that didn’t know or remember her cat by now. Oddball was almost as popular around Camp Brook as Evan was, if not for being Evan’s beloved cat than for having the attitude of a spoiled brat princess of Scotland or something. “She actually wanted to come today! She kept trying to get into the basket, but I had to keep telling her it was for the food!” she said, giving off a small giggle at the end with a shrug that matched.
Evan put the cat down and took one last glance at the sky, then looked back at Sean. “We couldn’t have picked a better day to have an adventure, Cutie!” Evan had a multitude of names for each of her friends; she just felt like calling the cute ones Cutie at the most random of times. “It’s sunny, the lake is beautiful, and Oddball wants an adventure full of rock searching and such!”

She always looked so amazing. She always gave the best hugs and had the cutest sayings. He loved her cat to. Oddball Twix was the best kitty Sean had ever meet. Her fur was always so soft and she never felt dirty, even though they were out in the forest. Sean was so happy that the cat came with them today. He had always wanted a cat but his mom was allergic to them. He rubbed Oddballs head and crached under her chin. She looked so happy to be pet. Such a cutie. He looked at Evan, who was also petting her cat. Her eyes were the strangest colors. But he had always loved them. His were so boring and plain. Some weird greenish color.
He was so excited to start exploring. Escape his worries for a day. It was nice. He could be happy and care free around Evan. She gave off this energy that made him want to smile. He picked at his salad a little more before he answered her. "I know its so amazing outside today!" He loved being outside in the sunlight. The grass under his feet and hands. The lake was so beautiful at this time of day and it wasn't over populated with noise and people. There was a nice breeze and the tresses swayed with it. He couldn't wait to embark on this little adventure of theirs. "Yeah, I know I'm so happy! But can we finish eating first? I never had breakfast this morning." He picked at his salad and stuffed more veggies into his mouth.
The sunshine felt so great on his skin. He looked up at the clouds trying to se shapes in them. "That one looks like an apple," he said as he lay back to get a better look at them. He loved looking to see shapes in the couds. Sean picked more at his salad. It was a lot more difficult to eat when laying down but he did his best. The salad that Even made was so good. And it wasnt over populated with just lettucs. Lots of other veggies were in there as well. So delicious. He was so content just sitting here, next to Evan. Soon they were going to go Rock hunting. It was sure to be an adventure. Be couldnt wait, to be honest. He poped another tomato chunk in his mouth and cloed hiseyes just for a seond before looking back up at the clouds.

HERE THE SEASONS DON'T EXIST A SUMMER HELD IN HAND. REST WHILE LOCKS MELT FROM OUR DOORS Digging in to the food was probably a better idea than waiting. Evan didn’t like feeling hungry, because then she would be even more tempted to shift and go hunting, but that would mean ditching Sean, which was certainly not directly on her list of things to do today, with her cat. She definitely wouldn’t like having her stomach growl at her the way she knew animals growled at her when she’d found their dinner first on their day for exploring. Besides, it would just be easier to eat first, as there would be less to carry around with them as they moved from place to place. There’d be more room for whatever they found, too, which made Evan just that much more excited to get on with the day.
Besides, she was starting to get hungry by then anyway, so she pulled out her own lunch and the wrapped up bowl of cat food she’d brought along with her out of the basket, making sure Oddball was content with her food before beginning to devour her own. She smiled at Sean when he spoke, but didn’t really say much. She was hungry, so she was eating, and Evan had been brought up with enough manners to wait until she was finished to start speaking. She didn’t want to scare any of her friends off with a habit of breaking those manners that her parents had taught her, especially since she was here mostly to reflect her parents up brining of her and her little brother. So she’d wait, and so would Sean since he was eating and just enjoying the day as Evan was. But she did giggle and swallow, finally piping up with, “Silly! You should have eaten. But hey, at least you seem to like my mixing of the veggies just fine!” It honestly made her happy that someone liked her….mixing, since she really hadn’t cooked anything. Then again, it wasn’t rocket science to make a salad.
She sat back against a tree, watching both her cat and Sean eat away. This was the kind of day Evan wished she had every day. There wasn’t anyone around she was kind of avoiding because of mixed emotions, no one she would possibly get in a fight with, nothing to even so much as piss her off. There was no reason to freak out like she might on any other given day, no need to hurry up one event to start another. It was just her, Oddball, and Sean, ready to do whatever they wanted for the entire day. Just the thought made Evan smile even more than she already was, and the fact that the sandwich she’d made herself was amazing only made the whole day brighter. She smiled as she continued to eat, glancing between the sky (as Sean was) and Oddball, mostly just to make sure her cat wasn’t running away. To her luck, Evan’s curious little kitten was happily chewing away at her food, which put Evan’s protectiveness at ease, at least for a little while.
Evan looked up at the sky, trying to find the apple shaped cloud Sean was going on about. When she did, she smiled and covered her eyes with her hands, like she was wearing a visor. She giggled a bit and swallowed the bite of sandwich she’d taken before nodding and saying, “Sure does!” Evan then looked around the sky, trying to find more clouds through the trees she was sitting under. It was a little difficult, but it wasn’t like a jigsaw puzzle in her mind that was her feelings for Grayson. Stop that, Torres. You’d told yourself you wouldn’t think about that too much out here with Sean. Evan took in a breath, heavier than her normal breaths, and looked again at the clouds. She smiled and nearly burst out laughing at what she found. “That one almost looks like Oddball!
” At the mention of her name, the cat looked up, but instantly went back to eating her food. But Evan kept on laughing at the irony of the clouds that day. 685 - ALICE/SEAN <3 - outfit! - cute! banner made by ME.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
